Didn't know these black gospel Bishop types had names like Norman! Anyway, back to business. This is not just another run of the mill 'death-or-glory' BG rampage. Some subtle shadings to be found here, traces of Caribbean rhythms, soloists that bring sensitive interpretation to their art and arrangements that draw on assorted influences. "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" is presented with the solo from the Bish himself, with the choir operating in a cascading chorale type of format. Other sections are of course just good old 'blow the neighbours' stampedes. "The Lord's Prayer" is given a narrative reading and the choir whip it up to quite an emotional pitch. Plenty of good music, certainly a lot of hard work and talent went into this.
