Recorded live at The Potter's House, this glitzy live presentation of the Christmas message features the hugest selection of top rated gospel artists as they sing and chat their way through the old, old story. The show is hosted by Smokie Norful and Vickie Winans stumbling as they read from an autocue and introducing us to performances by The Potter's House Mass Choir, Blind Boys Of Alabama, Beverly Crawford, Mary Mary, yada yada yada. With more glamour and "sincerity" than the annual Oscar Ceremony, the actual performances are spoilt by the cheesy irritating material of the hosts. The cheese factor hits its peak as Bishop Jakes tells the Christmas story to a bunch of unnaturally cute children. Shinier than the star guiding the wise men to the stable and richer than the gifts given to the manger bound baby, this is far too sugary for me.
