Well established ministry Scripture Union have released a CD of Bitesize Bible Songs wrapped up in popular music and reflective tones. The disc contains 19 tracks, two of which are instrumental, and some of which coincide with Scripture Union's Wastewatchers summer club material. Primarily written by Victoria Warwick, with Alex Taylor and Trevor Ranger also contributing, "these songs give you a fun and easy way to learn and remember Bible verses and get God's word stuck in your head." Many children find it easier to remember information if they have sung it, rather than spoken it or written it down, and this is where this album comes into its element, and has its potential impact. The shortness of each track makes them catchy and easy for its target audience of five to11 year olds to grasp, even if some of the computer altered voices do get annoying after awhile. Produced by Tom Sounder and sung by Mimi Rae, the album has biblical verses imprinted at the centre of its songs, which means it will always be a good resource for children. With a few pop production elements hinting at undercurrents of Kylie and S Club 7, the album is musically varied but strong as a whole collection. Particular tracks which stand out are the reflective and vocally centred tones of "Ur My Refuge", the dance bass music of "The Word" and the piano symphony of "Come Back". Also containing sheet music, lyrics on OHP and PowerPoint template, posters and mini activities 'Bitesize Biblical Songs' is a complete package.
