"C'mon Blessed, let's take it to another level," sings Cynthia Thomas on "Praise Him" but unfortunately in the world of R&B gospel, this kind of album is beginning to sound dated already. Certainly Blessed's vocal talent is all in place and the songs are there too but somehow the energy levels are way down and even when the band tries to up the ante with the horn filled "Power", it's still not enough. There are so many people rushing to push back the barriers of gospel music that albums like this that once you'd have classed as contemporary gospel or R&B are already beginning to sound tired by comparison. If you're still into this style then there is stuff here that you'd enjoy. "I.O.U. My Life" has a gentle groove and plenty of thankfulness and some tight vocals. "If You Want Love" is a smooth tune too but still I'm left feeling dissatisfied that rather than taking us to another level, Blessed lags behind the crowd.
