No, Whispering Bob hasn't got saved. This is bright groovy gentle pop music and it's no surprise to discover Bob has been living in California and Florida when I listened to these sunny songs! Playing all the instruments and singing all the parts himself, this has been a labour of love for Mr. Harris who also works as a music director for a church. It's also sentimental as he pens songs for his graduation ('I Will Pray') , his wife (the gorgeous 'Just How Much') and his best friend Steve (the instrumental 'Standing By A Friend'). There is no doubting Bob's musical talent because his guitar playing is excellent, nor his songwriting which is equally proficient. However there are two weaknesses here. Firstly , a lot of this material is very samey so songs tend to mush into each other without enough variation to make it interesting. I'd love to hear an occasional up tempo track to break this up. Secondly, the decision to play it all himself leaves the final product limited by unconvincing drum tracks and the need to have some different sounds in the mix. Having said that, a song as good as 'Search Me', which is an excellent showcase for Bob's talent, makes me want to hear more.
