Bodixa's Monday evening set on Stage 2 was one of the highlights of Greenbelt 2005. On this EP Anna's remarkable vocal is even purer than I remember. The title track should carry a health warning - you will never get it out of your head! Steady acoustic rhythms provide a perfectly balanced backdrop for strong melodies. These are enhanced by Emily's beautiful harmonies that are subtly unpredictable. The tension is enhanced particularly on "Balloon" and "Socialite" by slightly twangy (think Michael Caine) lead guitar. The final track, "Parasite", is live though you would hardly know it. The haunting melody reaches deep within and the dark lyrics are quietly unnerving. The arrangements here are beautifully understated and the band are the epitome of poise. Hailing from Leeds, Bodixa are seeking mainstream success and deserve to be noticed. An absolute must have.
