Album number three from respected singer/songwriter Brian Fuller who has been recording as an independent since 1994. For this reason it's a sophisticated jazz tinged pop/rock that is the bag here. Brian's voice sometimes sounds a little like Bryan Duncan when he goes into blue-eyed soul mode, and that's no bad thing. Good clean sound, nice instrumentation, thoughtful production that enhances the songs and plays to Brian's strengths, in fact this could be a lesson in how to make an independent album. They're 12 songs that range across styles, so there's the moody balladry of 'I Know A Place', the pop soul of 'Soul Soother' and the sax-flavoured cool of 'His Name'. Personally, I like the jazzy piano flavours as well as the breezy studio jam. Closing the album with an acoustic guitar and vocal version of Keith Green's classic 'Make My Lie A Prayer To You' is a nice touch. Overall, these songs seek to minister and really do the trick. God quality, well-constructed tasteful pop, definitely an album made for grown-ups.
