I understand that this album was quite a hit in Ghana and that Bro Godfrey Graham has recently toured there with this material. This surprises me, as I find all these tracks quite hard to appreciate. Now, I am aware that I might be showing some cultural bias, but in my defence I will say that I enjoy reggae. My criticism isn't the tropical sound of the music or the use of black English - I'm fine with these. It's the fact that the lyrics are just too banal and repetitive. The music provides a nice Caribbean atmosphere but there is no depth and no challenge to these tracks and the tunes do go on a bit. I'm sorry but I can't see Bro Godfrey Graham being very popular with readers of Cross Rhythms.
