Listening to this strangely reminds me of the England football team. There's plenty of talent and potential on show, the crowd are all behind what's going on, the defence is solid at the back and the ball gets moved around well with nobody giving it away. Unfortunately, in the last third there's this strange lack of imagination and nobody ever seems to get round to just sticking it in the back of the net. Bruce has an incredible voice that is to die for, this recording made at his home church of The Oasis of Refreshing Ministries in Wilmington, Delaware, features plenty of enthusiasm from the audience and the backing musicians are faultless. Unfortunately despite the impressive vocal runs and gymnastics somebody seems to have omitted to actually write a decent tune to hang those runs and gymnastics on so like the England footie team it never really realises the great potential that's there.
