American violinist Bruce Wethey and flautist Lisa LaCross here perform with a lush orchestra conducted by MOR veteran Don Marsh and dubbed on this release The Cool Springs Orchestra. The duo offer gentle renditions of 12 well known hymns with a refreshing Celtic twist. Bruce and Lisa are very experienced musicians who have both been involved with some very high profile artists, Bruce playing alongside Michael W Smith, Julio Iglesias and Michael Jackson while Lisa has performed as concert flautist in some of the world's top classical venues, like the Carnegie Hall and the LaScala Opera House. What is really special about this album is the quality of these instrumental interpretations. Often with Celtic music there is a danger of many tracks sounding awfully similar, however Bruce and Lisa have gone to town in adding their own touch to classic hymnody. Listen out for "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross" which has been very cleverly layered and with a hint of "Lord Of The Dance" in the arrangements while their rendition of "I Surrender All", "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Be Thow My Vision" are all beautifully executed.
