Californian husband and wife worship duo Bryan and Katie have followed up their acclaimed Jesus Culture debut 'Here On Earth' with a collection of intense self-penned songs that seek to glorify God at every turn. Although this release opens with a song that sounds like it's been on a hundred other modern worship collections - the Coldplay-like "He Is The Light" complete with obligatory pounding drums and driving guitars - it's not long before the Torwalts put their own stamp on proceedings. For instance, the brooding "Weight Of Glory" and the ultimately uplifting "Shores" showcase not only the Torwalts' obvious songwriting skills and the innovative production skills of Jeremy Edwardson but also the wonderfully unique and mesmerizingly passionate vocal style of Katie which shimmers and shines throughout this release. Mr Torwalt himself is at his best in the electronica-tinged "Spirit Of The Living God" which sees the singer's vocal performance lift an already great song to another level. The anthemic "Worthy King" together with the slow burning triumph of "It Was Finished" and the quieter "Burn" round off another hugely enjoyable album from the talented Torwalts.
