Claire Buckfield is a name you might recognise if you are an aficionado of the school soap Grange Hill, as she made a name for herself as one of the pupils at that particular seat of learning, and she’s also appeared on TV in Doctors, Two Point Four Children, and Dangerfield, and toured in the musical Godspell. This album’s been produced as a kids’ worship resource by the Youth Mission Team, based in Blyth, Northumberland, and Claire’s joined by the pupils of a primary school in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. As a performance, it’s fair to middling, Claire’s singing voice is adequate, and the kids are there or thereabouts most of the time. The songs are a cut above some of the cringeworthy stuff I’ve heard over the last few years, and there are split trax on the CD to teach your kiddywinkers the songs, although the CD sleeve doesn’t have a lyric sheet, which is a disadvantage. A reasonable resource, unless your kids have discovered Veggie Tales…
