There's more to By The Tree's third album than at first meets the ear. Sure, there's sufficient that’s immediate enough to gain your interest, but plenty waiting for those who want to delve a little deeper. There's no secret formula here, just good songs, played well and topped off with a great voice, a combination that will work every time. They're not afraid to experiment, however. "Notes On My Door" and "Confessions" recall Jellyfish, and U2 meet Feeder on "Faith That Breathes". That said, these bands are merely references; By The Tree have their own voice, and it's a good one.
