Keith Singleton enthused about the 'Portraits of Praise' album in this series in CR56 but I am less impressed with this one. 'Portraits of Worship Live' features the Calvary Temple in Indianapolis and has all the trademarks of that "all American" contemporary Christian style. A very professional performance kind of sound. Despite stating that this collection of recordings as a whole contained old familiar and newer songs, I did not know any on this album. One track I particularly liked was "Get Down Mountain" with its funky groove, which did stand out from the other tracks. As a whole, the album did not leap out as unique and original, but as far as live worship albums go it did put over its atmosphere well. If you enjoy the American approach to worship then this album is for you.
