Gradually more jazz-orientated artists are weighing in with songs reflecting a Christian would view and this one from a vocalist from Fort Collins, CO, is a delight. 'Life's A Ride' has already received airing on both jazz and Christian stations Stateside. I particularly enjoyed the haunting minor key ballad “If You Only Knew” while the big band riffing “Holy Roller Swing” is a whole heap of fun. The piano work by the album’s producer Taylor Mesple is outstanding while Carol’s gliding vocals take in such disparate influences as Sarah Vaughan and Blossom Dearie. Not the kind of album you’ll see stocked in many Christian bookshops, but a classy, finely executed set from an exceptional vocalist.
