How can a 'Best Of' be released after only three albums from the artist? Well, the collector's edition does work well, with several things going for it. It starts with two new songs, Carolyn's arrangement (with strings) of "They'll Know We Are Christians (By Our Love)" and her co-written (again with strings) "What Love Looks Like". These are followed by nine recordings from her previous albums and then five songs are performed at the Blue Wind Café, Nashville. These live songs were also originally on her studio albums. The first is a repeat of "Seize The Day", with guest vocal by Third Day's Mac Powell (also on "I Can Hear You") and the last is "Go With God", with guest guitarist Phil Keaggy. Another plus is special sleevenotes by Carolyn about each song. So, there is something for established CA freaks and for those who've not heard her or bought an album, this is a good place to start. Her writing focuses especially on the good and the optimistic, as reflected in her releasing her first book Living The Questions: Making Sense Of The Mess And Mystery Of Life.
