Best described as inspirational pop, Carolyn was a member of Revelation who recorded for the Benson label a while back and this album is her solo debut. Going in a praise and worship direction, she's seen some of her songs picked up by the major worship labels, and her song 'He Covers Me' has broken out as a Christian radio hit in parts of America. At times this reminds me of the music made by 2nd Chapter Of Acts in the early '80s with plenty of vocals, some poppy arrangements and inspiring lyrics. A polished production sometimes has everything (including the kitchen sink!) to add to the epic feel of some of the material. 'The Eagle (Born To Fly)' has real strings (how many independent albums can boast that?) and 'We Bless You Lord' is given a full throttle huge sound to match the huge concept of the praise in the song. Elsewhere 'Shout' has a rockier feel although, like a lot of the sound here, it does sound a bit '80s. The album closes with a reprise of 'We Bless You Lord' preceded by a lovely new rendition of 'And He's Ever Interceding', which is one of the songs that she recorded with Revelation (and, fact fans, it made it to number one in the American CCM charts). Overall, this sounds a bit old-fashioned but if you'd like something polished and easy on the ear this will inspire you.
