I approached 'Lullabies' with fear. I had deadlines to meet, I was/am exceedingly fatigued and the thought of a boring-to-the-power-of-five album of 'Lullabies' was utterly the last thing I needed. But during its playing, I made a marvellous discovery. The kids had gone to beddy-byes and in their place was Tanya Goodman Sykes, an excellent country-tinged CCM session singer you've heard on many an album doing the vocals. Even the arrangements were kosher MOR orchestrations with some very nice piano. So paradoxically I woke up with 'Lullabies' and noted the beauty of Brahms' "Slumber Song" and the traditional German lullaby "Sleep Baby Sleep". Very nice and definitely something you could play the kids at bed time.
