Well, this certainly ain't "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" (Daniels' best known hit), but it's definitely a pleasant surprise. Hymns and gospel greats are here given a variety of treatments ranging from blues to hillbilly and ballads, with a honourable mention due to the wonderfully named Bobby Jones Super Choir. Admittedly things do get a mite cheesy at times, particularly when Daniels' vocal strays dangerously close to "club singer" style - if you get my drift; but at other times Daniels is in inspired form, such as in the "cheesefest-becomes-rock-out" version of "Just A Closer Walk". A highly enjoyable and refreshingly different collection.
