Charlie Peacock is at his best in live performance. This video is a perfect showcase for his white soul music and dynamic stage presence. The limitations of the poor staging are easily transcended by the great music on show. Playing with only the multi-talented vocalist Vince Ebo and Jimmy A's dexterous picking, Charlie is free to move body and soul. The mastery he achieves in weaving his intricate songs in and out of the backing is a wonder to behold. Think of Boy George on a good night backed by Al Givern and complemented by say Dave Stewart - get the picture? Songs such as "My Soul", "The Way Of Love" find wings, lifting your heart and soul. The driving "Experience" loses a bit of edge when involving crowd support but what the heck, we're not all as gifted as he. The mesmerising performance that precedes the finale must have left the crowd dazed. When asked on film if he is disappointed not to be a star, the reply is telling. Basically, without the downside of life, Charlie says he wouldn't have Christ and be so grateful. This gratitude is conveyed in full on this excellent video.
