Usually, listening to monks strutting their funky dorian or mixolydian modes does little or nothing for me, but this one has something about it which holds the attention. There are some very pleasant, untrained voices-on it which work because of their simplicity. It's also one of those recordings which is eminently possible to fall asleep to, and I don't mean that in a negative way - it's just completely relaxing. To sit down and take this recording in at one session is impossible - at least for me, but in short bursts it provides some welcome relief to the rush and bustle of daily life.
