Chris Bolton has predominantly been a back up vocalist singing with Mary Mary and Chaka Khan. He is signed to a new label MIE (Marble Ice Entertainment LLC) committed to promoting new talent and changing lives. With the instant comparison to Luther Vandross and at times reflections of Freddy Jackson, the voice of Chris Bolton has a rich and lush appeal. Excited to be drawn into the depths and velvet smoothness of this voice, the dream ends very quickly. With Chris self-producing and having written the tracks, the album is pleasant but there is no quality material here. Slipping into a standard gospel R&B format there's not much dance appeal and to the other end of the scale there is no spine-tingling ballads to showcase to stage Chris' obvious vocal talent. Instead, you could be listening to any decent gospel vocalist crooning and warbling his way through a series of up and down tracks. Perhaps with more writers and a strong producer, Chris could become a serious contender. But not with this album.
