Originally from Glasgow but now resident in the USA, Christina plays folk music with a strong taste of country in the mix. Blessed with a distinctive voice, Christina writes most of her own material. On this release she often touches on biblical themes but sings them without it sounding like Christian music. Thus a lot of her live performances aren't on the church circuit but in mainstream venues. "Without Love" takes 1 Corinthians as its inspiration and it's obvious where the inspiration for "Don't Let The Sun Go Down Upon Your Anger" comes from. Elsewhere, Christina's song writing concerns itself with people, life, relationships, often drawing on her Scottish heritage. "Watercolours" is an atmospheric piece set on the Isle Of Skye featuring a wife yearning for her husband who is away at sea whilst "The Housewife's Life's Sae Boring" has a lilting Scots rhythm and a lyrical desire for escapism and a slice of humour! "American Dream" juxtaposes biting lyrics with a wistful melody and questions the soul of the "American way". Choosing to live in America hasn't stolen away Christina's thoughts of home and the album's title song has her thinking once more of Scotland. If country and folk music are your bag, Christina Harrison's fine soprano voice will be a delightful addition to your collection.
