Christopher Moyer's big band has everything: Great musicians, tight arrangements and a tasteful sprinkling of solos to keep your groove going throughout the album. However, for all his sumptuous playing skills, for the depth of his arranging ability and for the time it must have taken to carefully put this band together, it belies belief that he would not take the time to find a world class singer to top off this wonderful band. Rather, Spokane, Washington-based Christopher himself sings throughout the album, bringing it down to the level of "yet another independent release let down by poor vocals." Don't get me wrong, parts of this 2001 album are very listenable, and the instrumental aspect is flawless, but when you put a weak singer (or even two, catch track five "Bill Bailey/All Around The World" where Christopher duets with his wife Andren) at the head of a great band you lose everything you have accomplished.
