With such an array of singing talent assembled here - Nichole Nordeman, Bethany Dillon, Janna Long, Christy Nockels and Erin O'Donnell are all out of Nashville CCM' top drawer - this concept album can't fail to exude a certain class. And the idea of putting together a mixture of lullabies and "family worship songs" to target an album at mums with babies is an attractive one, particularly when you read Nichole Nordeman's comments on the project ("Nobody thinks about worshipping in a rocking chair at 3am. But this is the reality of motherhood. stealing away with God one moment at a time.") Yet somehow the album doesn't quite come off. Maybe it's producer Ed Cash's fault, who puts a piano-dominated arrangement to almost every tune so they eventually blur one into another. Or maybe it's the strange phenomenon of having the jaunty praise songs like Brenton Wood's "How Great Is Our God" and Tim Hughes' "Here I Am To Worship" slowed down in pedestrian tempos. But then, maybe I'm missing the point as I'm not a mum and don't possess a rocking chair.
