In 1975 Christian music pioneer Chuck Girard launched a solo career after the pioneering band that he'd helped form came to an end. In Love song, he'd established himself as a strong songwriter and one of the main voices in the band. This solo album kicks off with the autobiographical "Rock'n'Roll Preacher" complete with sweeping vocals and blasting horns and pounding rhythms. What happens next is an album packed full of seventies pop, inspiring lyrics and perfect vocal performances. This is seventies CCM at its finest. From the soulful pop groove of "Galilee" to the inspirational laid back sounds of "Quiet Hour", this is fabulous Jesus Music capturing Chuck Girard at his most assured. The final three tracks make for a magnificent fifteen minute sweep of songs that are worshipful and inspiring. The prayerful "Lay Your Burden Down" sets the scene perfectly whilst "Slow Down" reaches into the heart to minister. Finally, the worshipful "Sometimes Alleluia" completes the album in an uplifting fashion. The end result is an album that exemplifies everything that was good about seventies Christian music. So there's great musicianship, strong arrangements and production and lyrics that are immediate and directly spiritual. Nothing is watered down her.

I have this classic vinyl from early pioneer ccm. I also have the Lovesong albums that Chuck was a very vital part of, prior to this first solo lp. This album contains the popular anthem "Sometimes Alleluia"; so glad he wrote and recorded this 5 1/2 minute song: many others in the gospel/ccm world have also recorded it, to include the Imperials. Another group of pioneer vets provided wonderful bgv'; the 2nd Chapter of Acts; whom I love! I would love to hear some of the singer/preachers of today's ccm modernize the song "Rock 'N Roll Preacher". "Ever-
more" is a nice stand out #; it has a nice 70's sound.
I really like "Quiet Hour"; we all need one a day.
Side 2 begins with "Galilee"; great bgv's for the song!
This is a classic gospel song: reminds me of pop icon
Paul Simon's "Love's Me Like a Rock" from 1973 that features the Dixie Hummingbirds on bgv's. I love how the music grows on "Lay Your Burden Down"; a song with familiar words heard time and time again.
This album is a great part of early ccm history; would love to find on cd. GOD Bless! - Don
