There are some excellent anthems on this disc, sung with precision by Claire College Choir, starting with the "In Pace" by Sheppard - a composer who was forgotten in the revival of Tudor music in the first part of this century - but who deserves a wider audience. The four pieces on this disc attributed to Sheppard are my favourites along with the "O Aux Beata (O Trinity Of Blessed Light)" by William Byrd. Female sopranos and altos are used (as opposed to choir boys) providing a well-rounded sound that works well with these pieces.
