A last minute addition to the Cross Rhythms radio playlist is Clara's version of "Little Drummer Boy" from this download album. Clara is Clara Oman who charmed us with as commercial pop album in 2008. With this Yuletide ser, the Nashwille-based singer clearly demonstrates she is no pop princess with good looks substituting for barely adequate vocal ability but a highly acomplished vocalist able to handle jazz. here her clear-toned voice glides effortlessly across small group accompaniments with an outstanding piano player offering deft phrases like a cross between Errol Garner and Oscar Peterson. There are originals here like "Christmas Island" and "Puttin' On Plays" mixed with jazz-styled versions of some carols plus that delightful version of "Little Drummer Boy". Even when she ventures into Yuletide smaltz with "Let It Snow", Clara's clever tribute-to-the-Andrews-Sisters version keeps you smiling. After her stab at pop stardom, Clara has found her stylistic niche.

When Clara was 3 years old should would listen to her older sister practice, then gingerly stroll away happily humming the tune she just heard. A year later she would sit at the keyboard and play the songs she heard without lessons. Wish you could catch the video Clara cut for a niece for her birthday. WOW. Whoever has the connections should substitute the age old Happy B-day Birthday ditty we all sing year after year with the snappy number that songwriter Clara wrote. Knocked me out.

Clara is nothing short of a musical genius! She is the most talented female singer/songwriter I have ever experienced. Her incredible pitch and vocal talent is equally matched by her outstanding multi-instrumental ability, virtuoso piano handling and her uncanny ability to arrange, write and bring something totally new to songs we've all heard a million times. Clara is the REAL deal, all the way and it doesn't hurt that she is stunningly gorgeous! In a world of canned crappy pop talent, Clara has proven she can handle any genre of music with grace and genius. Most artists, even the best would KILL to be this gifted!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving Clara her due credit. I wish she could get a big break here in the US. Clara is such a talented individual. I've known her since she was assistant choir director at Mansfield Senior High. What perfect pitch she has, and she is a wonderful person as well.

Tony, Thanks for your nice article. Did you know Clara did all the vocal parts as well as played the piano, producing the CD in her own studio. She has amazing talent!!!! Case in point, Clara took third place in a recent New York City contest for singer/songwriters.

Your review is right on! There is just about nothing this young lady cannot handle.
Thank you for adding Little Drummer Boy to your Christmas music. It's amazing!
