UK-based jazz singer Cleveland Watkiss is back with his first solo album in a decade. And what a comeback it is, too! I put the album on and was instantly sold, and why? The production. So I checked the cover for details and found it was Cleveland's handiwork. He doesn't leave anything out and he doesn't put too much in! You can hear all the instruments and he knows how to use space in the music - a true art. It's got anticipation, release and, because it's been so well directed, the spiritual content shines through - it's for Jesus! As for the songs, they are modern psalms sung with skill and understanding. A fusion of Latin, reggae, funk and jazz - with melodies that melt your heart. This is a very positive album about the love and power of God. Cleveland's track record is pretty impressive - his collaborations include Pete Townsend (The Who), Courtney Pine and Stevie Wonder - to name but a few. This man and his band The Source are well worth checking out. I strongly advise you to buy it, and be blessed!
