A fusion of gospel, blues, jazz and R&B from Collette and her backing band, named MTCK after the initials of their surnames, Dave Moore (keyboards), Jon Taylor (lead guitar), Dave Clarke (bass and backing vocals) and Sam Kelly (drums). This is really only a demo with rough and ready production and some distortion and feedback at times. Plus the band seem too far back in the mix, or perhaps Collette is too far up, and her phrasing and pitching is occasionally way off. Coupled to that, the gospel content is just two tracks out of eight – the old gospel favourite “Wade In the Water” and a medley of “Precious Lord” and “Up Above My Head”. Aficionados of the aforementioned genres might like to investigate, but this is a situation where the sum of the constituent parts adds up to a poor whole.
