In the early '80s the Chapel Lane studios in Hereford were flung wide to provide a home for established and emerging British artists to record and the Chapel Lane label was established. It proved to be the home of some of the finest Christian music recorded in the era. Nestled in amongst artists like Sheila Walsh, Bryn Haworth, Alwyn Wall, Lib Suite and Barratt Band were Collision. To be honest I'd only come across them on the 'Clean Tape' compilation album from the label and had no idea that they had recorded anything else. And then Admiral Cummings unearthed this scratchy seven inch vinyl single from the vaults and suddenly it's 1982 all over again. The "A" side (hey kids remember 45s?) was "He'll Never Let Us Down" which is a fantastic slice of synth-driven pop rock that fits in perfectly next to After the Fire or New Musik's "Living By Numbers". The "B" side was "I'm Glad" driven by a fab bass groove! The band, with personnel changes, went on to become Royal Rendezvous and then stepped into obscurity. But as this single shows, they had their moment.
