Cookbook and Uno Mas are two fifths of the successful L.A. Symphony collective. Though their work as a group remains the major focus, this second album as a duo after an extended break gives them a real opportunity to stretch their creative muscles. Both guys are gifted MCs and it's in the lyrical department that this release really shines, notably on the Pigeon John fronted "Take Control" and the hugely challenging "Time Is All I Got". There is also a real sense of fun which pervades the album like the sample heavy "He's # 1!" which makes the Beastie Boys look more like Cabbage Patch Kids in comparison. Overall, the strong production on this record, musical variety and hot rhymes combine to make this a release that will not only appeal to hardcore LAS fans but hip-hop heads in general. This is a wake up call!
