Emerging from Detroit, rappers Corey Breeze and Jess Aleakatino set out to bridge the gap between the gospel community and the local music scene with 'The DNA Project', an exciting new venture that holds much promise. Throwbacks to the sounds of the '90s are prominent within this record whilst remaining relevant to its current audience. The anthemic "On My Way" with its driving sub-saharan rhythms and uplifting lyrics is appropriate for any long car ride. Breeze and Aleakatino's ear for innovative sounds is impressive. In "Throw Your Hands Up" an orchestra that sounds like a sample straight from a 1920s murder mystery film lays the foundation for a really classy hype track. Leading the way for this debut release is the hypnotic "Feel The Beat" introducing its audience to both rappers' love of "the beat". Subtle fine tuning of the lyrics as well as on the production will ensure this collaboration starts getting some serious attention.
