Reviewed by T A Sutherland The 'Best Of Submissions' series is an attempt by Beatmart to create a stage for up and comin' indie/yet unsigned artists to get recognition. DJ Morphiziz oversees the proceedings whilst working with the prolific producer, musician and programmer Todd Collins who seems to be gettin' around these days putting a stamp of quality on much of what he's involved in. This is a good CD considering most of these guys are as yet pretty much unknown, and that said these are evolving sounds that are still maturing. However there were a few gems later in the album that got play on play by me and are worth a big mention. First up the inspirational flow of "We'll Make It", true rapoetry for your spirit (featuring Young Josh, Actdavis, E'pistle). Next up is "Poundin' The Pavement", a funked up old school number with a KJ freshness and some slick backing instrumentation, (featuring C-Luk, M-Lotto, Bizarre The Czar). Finally the best of submissions is "Wrong Cross" featurin' Altarego who lays down a poundin', gritty sound that's big but sounds very much like the big man himself, ie, Pettidee. Worth a listen especially if you're aspiring to up your game in the industry, as Beatmart are planning Vol 4. Plus the second part of the CD features instrumental tracks and extra stuff, making the album 25 tracks in all!
