To start in the shallows, the cover of this CD has a photo of British songsmith Danny Cope that looks as if he’s been caught in the act of picking his nose. If you can get past that little aberration, the music is good stuff: 10 tracks of unintrusive, thoughtful acoustic pop. Danny Cope’s only drawback as a songwriter in my eyes is that he doesn’t seem to “do” catchy tunes – I’ve listened to the CD numerous times and honestly I couldn’t hum a single line from memory. But the lyrics are smart, the emotions true to life. Quiet work, but interesting and honest.
