All the way through his run on American Idol, Danny was considered one of the favourites to win along with Adam Lambert. Even though neither man actually did get the big prize it is no surprise that both singers are having success in their own right. Adam has become an international superstar and with this debut Danny Gokey takes his first step to recording success. He wears his influences clearly on his sleeve on this album and this is the major problem with the 10 track record, the songs start to merge into one another and there is little to distinguish between them. You have to listen very carefully if you want to find all of the songs. There are a few standout moments, mostly from the two singles, "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me" and "I Will Not Say Goodbye". If slickly produced modern country is your thing you will most likely love this record. But I was left looking for more memorable songs.
