David is an excellent Scottish singer/songwriter who had an EP “Tears Of A Father” out in 1994.  But this is far better, thanks in part to some exemplary contributions from Paul Baird, Robin Callander and Kenny McNicholl (of the Electrics) and Kenny Lyon (of the Honey Thieves) and in part by a maturing of David’s songwriting gift.  The 11 self-penned songs range from worship orientated song (“Thank You”) to dramatic evocations of a spiritual dream (“Nightmare”).  I particularly liked “All You Ever Wanted” which has some additional vocals from Rodd Christensen of Rodd & Marco while “Start Again”, with haunting uillean pipes intro, has a real folk roots feel.  Recommended.
