I suppose I should begin by explaining that this is NOT the hugely popular session guitarist David Huff who was once the leader of mainstream band Giant but the David Huff who for years led American CCM stalwarts David & The Giants. (Yep, I know it's confusing.) For those nostalgists who enjoyed D & The G's honest blue collar rock and catchy pop will be amazed how closely David has kept to the old stylistic template. The same bluesy bursts of guitar, the same sustained Hammond organ, chords and the same gruff voice which can handle a timeless axe riff or an engaging pop ballad. Lyrics were never David's strong point but there's a certain blunt honesty in songs like "I've Come To Worship", "Just Like Jesus" and "Glory Hallelujah". Didn't care for the unnecessary lush string arrangement on "Near You" but overall this is a welcome return from one of CCM's most faithful journeymen.
