The market for children's Christian music is becoming ever more crowded, with regular releases on both sides of the Atlantic (and many other places as well) catering for the pre-school and primary/elementary age groups. So it needs something a little different to attract the attention of the parents who are going to part with the cash. Christopher Davis and Matt Huesmann have come up with the idea of personalising the product and this CD is their stab at catching the eye of the doting parents and grandparents. Here are 10 tracks - some of them are songs, such as "Jesus Loves The Little Children" and "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands"; some of them are Bible verses, such as John 3:16 - but the producers will insert at appropriate points the name of the lovable little darling for whom the CD is destined. They'll also print the name on the CD itself with a short message from the sender. The music itself is undistinguished with the usual bouncy and predictable arrangements usually levelled at children. But, in an age when becoming famous and getting your name into the media is an all-consuming obsession for many youngsters, this will have a great deal of appeal. It's a shame though that the songs don't go much beyond Victorian hymnals while, as noted, the production is cheap and cheerful.
