This 2008 release ended up being the final swansong of these Birmingham-based rockers, adding to their previous six independent CDs. Sitting somewhere between the sound of a driving Anberlin and Pillar, the overall recording has a definite American flavour. Broad soundscapes of layered guitars and some excellent vocals from Steve Williams are given a harder edge with some well placed screams. The songwriting is mature and the songs are well structured. Lyrics are also full of hope and purpose, such as "God is closer than you think/He's not so far that he can't hear." Out of the five tracks, a personal favourite is the heaviest, "Fragile Heart", which at times was reminiscent of an early Underoath. For an independent recording DINWH have come up with a classy slab of rock which is capably produced. My only disappointment is that these four British lads are no longer producing music. 'The Ransom' is certainly a fitting legacy to leave and one worth seeking out.
