In Australia Deb has a growing reputation as a gifted singer/songwriter. This is Deb's second CD and is a winning combination of her warm, melodic voice and lyrics which are often reflections of biblical truth but avoid the stock evangelical cliches. It is a challenge for any songwriter to find a truly personal style but here Deb shows confidence whether performing an acoustic ballad or a pop/rock song. One of the strongest songs on 'Higher Way' is the haunting "One By One", which challenges us to look at the amazing things God is going to do in the nations through ordinary people. Another standout is "Crossroads" with its memorable images: "Life is not an alleyway/It's riddled with a thousand choices/Opportunities we can embrace/Standing at the crossroads." This is an excellent album for those willing to be challenged as well as encouraged by thought provoking lyrics.
