Anyone who regularly frequents the Greenbelt festival will have probably encountered this fine acoustic singer/songwriter. This 2006 release demonstrates all the strengths of this gifted crafter of songs where eloquent observations on the blessings and contradictions of life and plaintive vignettes are put to music which has a definite folk/roots feel. The songs here feel like lullabies and several ("Little Flowers", "Are You A Dreamer?", "Castle And Cathedral") are amongst Denison's best work. As an added bonus purchasers get a second, six-song CD titled 'Are You A Sleeper?' which contains a very nice acoustic version of "Little Flowers" (the full band version of which is on 'Dreamer') and a nice duet with long time music compatriot Rosie Thomas. If you've yet to discover one of America's most underrated songwriting talents, this is a good place to start.
