Reviewed by Tony Cummings Dimitri, or Jimi K, or, if you prefer, Jim Katsis, is one of those grassroots Christian music artists I've been aware of for a few years. Born in London to Greek Cypriot parents and now living in South Devon, he's been a powerful Gospel communicator for quite a while. But nothing quite prepared me for this tremendous album. Dimitri's blue eyed soul stylings ooze authority, he's penned a set of songs which make their spiritual points without resorting to language of Zion and producer Tim Powell Morris has put together a set of tracks that are sinuously funky with deft touches of jazz, pop and old skool R&B and funk. Love the choppy rhythm guitar on the title track, the delicious Max Turnbal piano solo on "Hypnotised" and the organic hooks which ooze a kind of free form joy. An independent release deserving of mainstream exposure. But don't wait 'til you can pick it up in your local HMV. Search out a copy now. For whether your tastes are for funky pop or poppy funk Dimitri delivers a soul warming audio concoction.
