This particular compilation offers the complete works, which in this case is 20 songs, by the Dixie Jubilee Singers. The group performed regularly on radio shows like the Major Bowes Family Radio Hour and the General Motors Hour in the mid-1920s and also appeared in the 1929 film Hallelujah. Their acappella singing won many fans, but they eventually changed their name to the Eva Jessye Choir, after other groups starting using their name. It goes without saying that some of the recordings do show their age, but this is still a historical gem. Their stirring renditions of "Roll, Jordan, Roll" and "Good News" still shine today.
