Artists and songwriters who steadfastly travel the middle of the road are easy targets for young turk musical revolutionaries. But their jibes usually miss the point and an album like this one which assembles the best known songs/recordings shows that it takes a real talent to write such consistently tuneful songs of praise. From the wistful lilt of “God Will Make A Way” to the joyful country knee-slapper “God Is Good All The Time” to the toe-tapping “I Will Sing” these are decidedly catchy songs of praise. His covers (Darlene Zschech’s “Shout To The Lord”, Harry Smith’s “Give Thanks”, Graham Kendrick’s “God With Us”) are less impressive but overall if you haven’t got the albums from which this 19 song selection was compiled you may well want to investigate. And even if you have all Don’s albums, this album comes with a five song DVD of live praise which you might want to check out.
