I sense a cry of "American imperialism" rising up within me as I see that "America's 25 Favourite Hymns", has been repackaged for worldwide consumption under this new banner. Not that hymns such as "All Creatures Of Our God And King" and "Love Divine, All Love's Excelling" wouldn't be in almost anyone's top 100 hymns, but I wonder if the new name might be a bit misleading. This is not church choir style hymn singing but American MOR - in fact, it's so MOR it ought to have white lines down the middle of the CD! The album features a small choir backed by the Nashville String Machine, lush arrangements, professionally produced - but ultimately I fear the final package sounds far too much like American religious muzak for most British ears.
