A long time associate of Marvin Winans, his work with the New York Restoration Choir produced one truly storming album 'Center Of Your Will' while his song "Speak To My Heart" (there's a version here) has been performed by Mary Blige and Natalie Cole. Landing a contract with Warner Bros has meant the heavyweights have been wheeled in and special guests/producers on this set include Mark Kibble (ex of Take 6), Andrae Crouch and Bill Maxwell. Donnie's soulful baritone swoops with soulful passion, there's an artful blend of contemporary (the old R&B warhorse "Yes We Can"), hymnody (a stunning version of "Holy Holy Holy") and that gritty traditional sound. A class act and a class album.
