I had read on Cross Rhythms that Dreamlab (aka Magellan) was an American dance producer and being a huge fan of dance music I was genuinely excited to see this CD land on my doorstep to review. This album is one of a series produced by Magellan (Paul Buono) with more on the way. Dance has been around a long while but is poorly represented in Christian circles compared to other genres of music. The fact that Magellan/Paul was making a praise and worship album also heightened my interest as no one has done a complete project since those Nitro Praise albums of old. However, I have to say that I was very disappointed, much as I desperately wanted to enjoy this album. The lyrics are simple and unoriginal and the music is lame and unimaginatively programmed. This is a long way from the heavyweights of the Christian dance scene such as DJ Phase, Tresice, Siminz, Quillroader, Coretex and Andy Hunter. These guys have raised the bar and this is what Dreamlab need to aim for. The uncredited female singer is the only redeeming factor, but she should have taken all vocal duties.
