This is the second album from the choir who can add to their CV performances with names such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart. 'Doing Their Thing' reached the top 30 in the Irish album charts and, although it does not contain any of artists above, it does have some great performances. The opener "You And Me", features the choir without soloists and is one of the strongest tracks on the album. There are also two Kirk Franklin covers on the album, "It's Raining" and "My Life, My Love, My All" - both are credible but inevitably don't compare with the original versions. That said, the Motown classic "Ain't No Mountain" is very strong and "The Liberty Bell" engages the listener from the start. The standout track for me is the traditional "The Seed" which displays what the choir do best - strong and uplifting gospel harmony. In summary, a good album from one of the most surprisingly adept gospel choirs in the world.
