If a bit of blue-eyed soul is your cup of char then American duo East To West's second release will press all the right buttons. Neal Coomer and Jay Demarcus write and record songs with a great deal of pop polish and I couldn't help thinking that Coomer sings in a George Michael sort of way but then there's nothing wrong with that! Horns blow, rhythms bounce along and the boy's harmonies float faultlessly through the mix and it's all excellently packaged and produced by Bill Baumgart. But somehow to these ears, something is missing and I am left untouched by this set of songs! Lots of gloss and much to enjoy but this is all very pleasant without really connecting.
